The band program at Pine Tree Junior High consists of over 160 students in grades seven and eight. Students are divided into three ability based bands and meet daily. Pine Tree Jr High has consistently made superior ratings at the UIL concert and sight-reading evaluation. In addition, many of our students make the all-region band every year. The band students at Pine Tree work hard and are successful. We could not be prouder of our students and our band program!
The 8th grade band and color guard students will be participating with the high school band and color guard at the Varsity Football Game on Friday, October 15th. If your student did not pass all of their classes on their last progress report with a 70 or above, they are not eligible to participate.
What: Varsity Football Game at Pine Tree Stadium
When: Friday, October 15th, be at the JH Band Hall at 5:45 p.m. Bus leaves at 6:15pm. We will leave after half-time is over and be back at the JH around 9:30 p.m.
Transportation: Buses will provide transportation to and from the stadium.
Food: Students must eat at home before they come to the JH Band Hall. Students will receive a snack bag after half time.
What to wear: Band polo and blue jeans.
What to bring: Students will need a water bottle, their instrument, flip book(music), and lyre (if instrument requires it).
If parents want to sign out students at the game, that is possible, but a director needs to see a parent at that time. All other students will need to ride the bus back to the JH for pick up at 9:30pm.
The Jr High Band will be playing at the 8th grade football game on Tuesday, October 19th. We will meet at 6:00pm at the Pine Tree Football stadium. You may drop off your student at the back of the stadium by the white band truck. The band will play from 6:30-7:30pm. Please make sure that you are ready to pick up your child promptly at 7:40 PM at the stadium. If your child is not picked up by 8 pm, they will be transported by bus back to JH for pick up. Students will not be able to stay and watch the game unless you are present and staying with them. The band department will provide a flip book, but your student will need a lyre. You may purchase a lyre at Tatum Music or Mundt Music. The game is mandatory and will be a performance grade. If your student is in 8th grade football or cheer, they are not required to play with us due to the conflict, and will be with those organizations the entire time.

Food: Students must eat at home BEFORE they come to the stadium as they will not be allowed to go to the concession stand during our performance.
I just wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of our band after school rehearsal schedule. Every week our students will complete their graded pass-off during the after school rehearsal. If your student misses the rehearsal for any reason, they will be responsible for completing the assignment by playing their pass off for a director. The following is our after school rehearsal schedule:

The junior high will have their fall concert on Thursday, October 28th at 7:00pm in the Pine Tree Junior High School gym. Attendance at this concert is mandatory and will be counted as a performance grade. Your student will need to be in their seat with their instrument and music at 6:45pm. Anybody is welcome to attend.
